Browse items by package size

People don't load assembled furniture into a car, they load boxes. Car Fit Check lists items with boxed package dimensions and shows which vehicles can carry them based on real cargo constraints like boot opening width and usable floor length.

Frequently asked questions

These questions and answers cover how package-level fit works, what MAYBE means, market coverage, and how to handle missing vehicles or tight-margin checks.

Are these assembled dimensions or boxed package dimensions?

Boxed package dimensions. Flat-pack furniture is transported as packages, so that is the correct comparison for will it fit in my car.

Do you check seats-up and seats-down?

Yes. We compute both separately because usable boot length and geometry can change significantly when seats fold.

What does MAYBE mean?

MAYBE is borderline. It may work, but loading precision matters, including angle, exact clearances, and trim obstacles. It is not missing data.

If an item has multiple packages, does YES mean everything fits at once?

Not necessarily. Results are computed per package. Multiple packages may require a stacking strategy or more than one trip.

My car isn't listed. What can I do?

Check the Vehicles page first. If it is missing, share a reliable source link so it can be queued for indexing.

Why aren't all IKEA items listed here?

We prioritise items where transport is most likely to fail, such as long, wide, or bulky packages. The catalogue expands as more items are indexed and validated.

What does the "limiting factor" mean?

It is the tightest real constraint for that package and setup, typically boot opening (what must pass through) or cargo area limits (what must fit inside).

Can rotating or loading diagonally change the result?

Sometimes, yes. We evaluate eligible orientations such as straight and diagonal, and surface the best valid option when it improves fit.

Will this page support more countries and retailers?

Yes. Coverage grows over time, and catalogues can vary by market. Always rely on the package dimensions shown on the item page for your specific item version.

How accurate are the results?

Results are deterministic and based on structured dimensions, but real-world obstacles such as trim, seat hinges, and parcel shelves can reduce usable space in tight scenarios. Verify the tightest point when margins are small.
