There are two heights to know in the Focus. A box gets 24⅜″ of clear height above the loading sill on the way in. The boot itself is 31½″ tall from its floor, which sits 7⅛″ below the sill. So the gap, not the space inside, decides whether a tall box goes in upright. For width, the tailgate opening gives you 39⅜″ and the floor 39¾″ at its narrowest. Length is short with the rear seats up, at 30⅜″, and grows by 30⅝″ to 61″ with them folded. Put long packs in first and fit smaller boxes around them.

At 38½″ × 24¼″ × 9½″, the MARKUS box is short but deep, and it weighs 49 lb 6 oz with the whole chair inside. That is a lot of weight in a chunky shape, and it is hard to get your arms around. Lying flat along the boot, it covers 38½″ of floor, and its 24¼″ × 9½″ end goes through the opening first. Turned across, it needs only 24¼″ of floor, but then its 38½″ side has to fit through the opening. Share the lift if you can: one person at each short end, hands under the box, and set it down gently rather than letting it drop.
