The CR-V's cargo area rewards folding. You get a wide 43¾″ × 32⅝″ opening, but only 34⅝″ of floor behind it while the rear seats stand up, so almost any long box will overhang. Fold the bench and the floor stretches to 73¼″, a gain of 38⅝″ that more than doubles your load length. The narrowest point still measures 39¾″, enough for most flat packs to lie flat. The liftover sits at 27½″ with a step of just ⅜″ down to the floor, practically level, so you slide heavy boxes in instead of lowering them. Tall cargo is the one weak spot: watch that 32⅝″ opening height.

One box, 60″ × 15½″ × 2¼″, at 12 lb 8 oz: the DÄNKA is light enough to carry one-handed and long enough to be awkward anyway. Weight is not the problem; length is. A 60″ slab will not sit crosswise in a normal trunk, so it rides diagonally or waits for a folded seat. Nearly any hatchback takes it with the bench down, a wagon or SUV swallows it flat, and it can angle across the rear seat of a sedan in a pinch. Feed it nose first through the opening and keep it supported along its length; a carton only 2¼″ thick flexes if you bridge it, and the corners dent before anything else.
